5 Branding Trends That Will Define 2026

From expressive typography to motion-first identities, the brands winning in 2026 look, and behave, nothing like the brands of 2020.

Branding in 2026 is no longer about a single logo file on a white background. Identity systems are living, motion-first, and designed to hold up across a fragmented content landscape: TikTok, in-store shelves, dashboards, connected TV, and everything in between.

The first trend we're seeing everywhere is expressive typography. Brands are ditching bland geometric sans-serifs and adopting distinct display typefaces that carry emotion, think Bookman revivals, warped grotesques, and hand-drawn variable fonts. A single strong typeface can now do more brand work than a logo did five years ago.

The second is 'anti-AI craft'. As generative visuals flood every feed, human-made textures, imperfections, and analog artifacts are becoming premium signals. Consumers can tell when a brand actually made something, and they reward it.

The third is motion identity. Static logos are being replaced by short motion signatures, 1-2 second stings that appear in app splash screens, YouTube pre-rolls, and product onboarding. If your logo doesn't have a motion state yet, plan for one this year.

The fourth is color systems built for dark and light native contexts, side by side. Brands like Linear, Vercel, and Notion have proven the pattern: a palette that adapts context-aware rather than being locked to one background.

Finally, brand voice is becoming a first-class deliverable, not a footnote. In the era of AI-generated copy, a distinct written voice is one of the last places where a brand can still feel unmistakably human. Invest in it.

The through-line across all five: identity is now a system, not a snapshot. Brands that treat it that way will look native in 2026. Brands that don't will feel dated by summer.
